Released in conjunction with Spencer Longo’s 2024 exhibition ‘Internal Empire’ at TORUS, Los Angeles, the Internal Empire zine examines the historic use of independent print by a wide array of American fringe extremist groups and political subcultures. By extracting and recombining images and iconography from pamphlets, zines, and fliers spanning the political and cultural spectrum, Internal Empire reflects on the subculture-ization of western radicalism in the late 20th century and its impact on the contemporary hyper-individualism of the fractured American psyche.
